We Allow That???

                                    We Allow That???

"There is no such thing as an ugly woman".  ~Vincent Van Gogh
Women are always beautiful.  ~Ville Valo

                                                         (in America)
First Female doctor : Elizabeth Blackwell 1849
First Female judge: Esther Morris 1870
First Female police officer : Alice Stebbins 1910
Women get the right to vote : 1920
First Woman in air: Amelia Earhart 1935
First Woman in space: Sally Ride 1983

Now that might sound amazing to you and you might be saying "Wow look how far we have come!!", Ok but I listed only good things, Not the bad things.

I didn't list;  The first Female to become anorexic, The first female to be degraded, The first female to make less money just because she is a female, Now I could go on listing but I think you get the point.

Now in our world every day young girls are taught to be thin, look good, always eat little bits of food, and always wear a small size.

                                                                That leads to This:

And this:

Did you know that 90% of girls think they are fat or over weight?

America excepts that. We think it's ok. Well it's not ok, not at all.

                                                             Models in the 1920s:

                                                         Models today:

Every where girls turn they see girls like that telling them to look like they do.

                                                                      Stop this today.
Yes, it's hard to stop a train, (and we all know that this is) But it's not impossible.

Go look up "anorexic tips" you will be amazed at what you find.

Stop Telling girls that this is ok!

  1. Wow! This is so well written. I love what you have to say. I am so aware of this right now with two girls on the edge of their teen years. Thank you for sharing.

  2. Double wow! Seeing the photos from the 20s and now it very powerful! Isn't that crazy? The change is SO drastic and startling! I also have a young girl. She turns 11 next month. I encourage her to eat healthy and exercise and we do it as a family (even her thin brother). She is considered overweight. Everyone needs to focus on HEALTHY. Great essay!

  3. Keilee, this is excellent. Your mom is doing such an amazing job with you. When I was your age, I had an eating disorder. It was a big part of my life for a long time and is still something I struggle with. I am so glad to see you have a healthy perspective on this. I pray that my girls do as well.
